We are a small dedicated team and rely on volunteers to help us do our work in the community. We have lots of opportunities for Volunteers.
Every second and fourth Friday of the month we provide $5 community Hāngī – we prepare Thursday afternoon and Friday morning at Miramar Community Centre.
Thursday afternoon (2pm – 6pm) is peeling and chopping vegetables and meat, setting up the trays for Friday and preparing the foil wrapping. If you are unable to come to the centre we can drop off vegies with a bucket so you can peel and chop at your leisure in the comfort of your home and we will pick it up Friday morning (full instructions given).
Friday mornings –8:00am – 10:30am early start as we have to have the Hāngī in by 10am so it is ready for 6pm pick up – this is held at the Miramar community Centre from 8am and we load up the trays and wrap them in foil.
Friday evenings 5:45 – 7:30. We distribute the Hāngī and need volunteers to help clean the Kai cooker and help with deliveries for those isolating or unable to get to the centre.
All volunteers get a free Hāngī as a thanks. we also have afternoon tea on Thursday and pastries and coffee Friday morning.
