The Kai Basket is not just a "basket" of kai to feed the body. The Kai Basket aims to feed the body, mind and spirit as a "basket" of community information and support. The Kai Basket is well placed to work with individuals and groups seeking more information about locally offered services and programmes. We aim to build a robust resilient community of connected people.
We have established key relationships with Kaiboshand Suzanne Aubert Compassion Centre over the past year to enablefood pickup and distribution. We also work with other local food distributors whomay service a different clientele or provide services on different days. We have built a relationship with Miramar Community Centre and other hall users. This helps in managing hall hire particularly during situations that mayaffect the use of the hall such as during school holidays. We welcome other community groups or individuales who are interested in providing support. Our goal is not to create a culture of “dependency”, so we are looking to collaborate with local budget support services where appropriate and we would also like to connect people (if they are interested) with other support services such as English classes to help with integration into our community.
